Why is it fashionable or okay to wear shoes too big for you in Japanese fashion?

This is just something I noticed. To me it looks tacky and unkempt, but ALL Japanese models wear shoes too big for them. And I only mean in the photos. Not that they walk around in shoes too big, they just wear shoes too big in the photoshoots.

1. They wear big shoes because Japanese people are very small. The women average at 5'2 and the men average at 5'6. The female models are just copying western models when they wear high heels. Female models typically wear platform high heels because it makes their legs look longer, look taller overall and make their butt higher/smaller. It's a fad.
