- No, you will only be able to play Japanese games on a Japanese xbox. Games from other countries dont work. You would either have to purchase japanese games from amazon.co.jp or find them on ebay, or you could put in a mod chip that would allow you to play both, but that is risky, it could damage the machine. Unless you are desperate to play japanese games, don't bother buying a japanese machine. It isnt worth it.
- No, no, and no. a) They use 60v mains power, Australia uses 240. b) They use 60Hz power supply, Australia uses 50. c) Their TVs use a different signal (though many modern televisions won't have a problem at all) d) Region coding will stop you from using any non-japanese disks and lastly, any modern DVD player / TV combo will play any region / coding DVD just fine, if you put in the manufacturer code (simple web-search will find it - don't ask on Yahoo please). It's not illegal, but companies don't like it so they don't advertise the fact. This is in answer to your sub-question, not to your main question. I don't think you could get a Japanese XBox to play all DVDs though.
