Japanese Beautiful Model

Why did the Japanese use drawn transformers first and then switched to 3D models of the Transformers?

  1. its called technical advancement I guess.
  2. It was supposed to be a new innovation allowing for greater detail in the rendering of the Transformers. Their details would not alter or change from scene to scene and frame to frame. However, the drawback to the computer rendered models is that they don't seem to be 'there'. They don't have weight like the traditionally animated robots did. Their interaction with their enviroment seems a little forced. Then they walk, there seems to be no gravity or weight to their steps, when they touch an animated object, they don't seem to actually share the same space. Sure, you get more detailed and realistic looking robots, but you lose the realism of the scene itself...
