Why is it that slim hips are considered beautiful in japan?
I posted this in another topic and did not get one helpful answer so I'm hoping I'll get more answers here I noticed that a lot of japanese models claim extremely small hips, like 80-85cm up to the occasional 88-90cm for curvy models but they normally have extremely large busts (100+ cm inch bust). The girl who won the "best butt in japan" contest had a rather flat butt and small hips. The judges were japanese and there were other girls with wider hips and rounder butts that lost so I'm guessing that small hips and small butt is what is considered good???? I'm Japanese with 99cm hips but I find that a lot of people think my hips look smaller because I'm well balanced top and bottom. As far as I know from my grandma, she's always said that I have the most attractive hips. I haven't had 90cm hips since middle school. So is this a more modern thing, like after my grandmother's time? Also, please no comments on how large or fat you think my hips are, I know they are large. Thank you.

- I'm not Japanese so I had to ask my co-worker and he said that it could have something to do with the fact that Kimono are worn so that they create a straight line down the sides of the body. So, according to him, a straight-line is preferable to the hourglass figure of Western culture (which came about largely because of the corset I believe?) Straight from a Japanese man's mouth so I hope it's at least a viable theory. Off-topic: I never got the hang out centimeters (hell I can barely remember how long an inch is except that I know my hand is roughly 5.25 inches) so there's no need to be self-conscious about whatever your hip size is XD EDIT: 1/26 This is my own opinion--I was thinking about how a lot of Japanese "cuteness" is derived from being childlike and innocent. Children generally do not have full figures.
- from what I see their born that way. I also think that thin for women is in for almost the whole world.
