How tall are models in Japan?

Surely they can't be the usual 5'7 plus like in the west. They wouldn't be able find anyone! And they would not really be good role models for japanese girls who are tiny in comparison. Could someone please tell me their average height? I'm just curious.

2. If you're referring to female Japanese models, most of them would fall within the 5'3" to 5'5" range. Aki Hoshino, who is considered the most famous contemporary model, is 162cm (approx 5'4").
3. It depends on what type of model you are talking about. Fashion models run 5'6 to 5'8. My wife did fashion show modeling and is 5'7. Other types of modeling they tend to be shorter at 5'2 - 5'5.
4. This may sound horrible, but it depends on whether you are Asian or not! I have friends who work in Tokyo as models, a few are petite Japanese girls, but all of the models U.S. and U.K. I have met are very tall. Female Japanese/Asian models can fall anywhere between 5'3"-5'5" and sometimes 5'6" (taller if they are runway models, as was stated earlier). My american friend who models in Japan is Caucasian with red hair, she is 5'8". All of the other "western" models at her agency are also tall. Even the Japanese models tend to have a "long" body type (i.e. long torsos and thin legs). Three of my friends belong to this agency. Also, my friend corrected me, she is actually 5'8" and she does not belong to the K&M productions agency.
